Ventre: Teams can't guard against everything

DETROIT - OCTOBER 07: Pitcher Cory Lidle #30 of the New York Yankees is seen on the field against the Detroit Tigers during Game Four of the 2006 American League Division Series on October 7 2006 at Comerica Park in Detroit Michigan. According to reports on October 11 Lidle died after his plane crashed into the Belaire Condo high rise building at 524 E. 72nd St. in New York City. Ventre: How far does a sports team take the approach of contracts that prohibit dangerous activities? And realistically how much compliance could anyone expect when young men with a passion for excitement and a lot of disposable income are involved?
